East Kutai MSMEs participated in product curation activities consisting of standardization, product quality, and market penetration in an effort to reach a wider market.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Chairman of East Kalimantan Global Entrepreneur Professional (Genpro), Jhony Arianto, revealed that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are a main pillar in the regional economy to survive, grow and sustain growth. This statement was conveyed by Jhony during the Business Incubation and Product Curation of East Kutai MSMEs initiated by Genpro and the East Kutai Department of Cooperatives and SMEs (05/10).
“Today we gather on a very important agenda, primarily for MSME actors, at an event called MSME Incubation and Product Curation in the East Kutai area. Thank God, today we have scheduled a stage, namely the process of conducting an assessment,” said Jhony.
In this activity, MSME actors will go through a series of processes, spanning coaching, development, and evaluation of their products. These processes are designed to assess the feasibility of the product to be marketed globally.
Jhony said, “In the next three days with this agenda, we will get selected MSMEs that will be assessed and tested for standardization.” After curation, these MSME products can be included in exhibitions and promoted to become superior MSMEs and reach markets, both at the regional, national, and global.
Further, the curation process includes three modules, namely standardization, product quality, and market penetration. Standardization is an assessment carried out by the incubator, involving packaging, legal, and licensing. Product quality considers the value or advantages possessed, such as ingredients, taste, and quality needed by the market. Meanwhile, market penetration aims to make MSME products well-received by the market.
“In addition, today there are 30 MSME players whose products have been curated from several districts, namely North Sangatta, South Sangatta, Bengalon, Telukpandan, Sangkulirang, Kaubun, Muarawahau, and Telen. Almost all of the participants are women with 90% women and only 2 men,” said Jhony.
He expects that the participants carry a mission not only to help the family’s economy but also to thrive into successful entrepreneurs born in East Kutai.
