Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman inaugurated a workshop and a plastic pellet processing machine on Ring Road at Gunung Karet Hamlet, South Sangatta Village, South Sangatta District. This inauguration resulted from the collaboration between the East Kutai branch of the Indonesian Waste Bank Association (Asobsi), private companies, and private hospitals.
In his remarks, Regent Ardiansyah expressed hope that the workshop and waste pellet machine would solve waste problems while creating new economic opportunities for the community. “We are committed to continuously promoting innovation and cooperation for the welfare and sustainability of the environment,” he said.
Ardiansyah also appreciated the presence of Asobsi, which is the first in East Kalimantan, specifically in East Kutai. He said, “Alhamdulillah, this is a blessing. I have seen that the results can vary when they bring waste here. Some make 3 million, some 5 million, even tens of millions depending on the weight.”
The East Kutai Regent revealed that the community’s long-held dream of managing waste into something beneficial has finally come true with the presence of the waste processing machine. Since 2008, he and his wife, Siti Robiah, have collaborated with an organization from Surabaya and PT Kaltim Prima Coal to convert waste into compost. “This is extraordinary and can provide income for families, especially for association members and the community,” said Ardiansyah, who also serves as the patron of Asobsi East Kutai.
Furthermore, Ardiansyah disclosed that Asobsi East Kutai processes waste into compost and produces fuel for vehicles managed by the FKPM. He noted, “Alhamdulillah, a businessman helped procure the machine some time ago. Hopefully, with the addition of this machine, fuel production can increase.”
Ardiansyah also welcomed the establishment of a waste workshop that can produce plastic pellets, which will then be used in collaboration with Maspion. “Today, with the presence of the waste workshop, plastic pellets can be produced, which will then be used in collaboration with Maspion,” he added.
The inauguration of the plastic pellet waste processing machine was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with partners such as Asobsi East Kutai Chairman M. Jali, Director of Pelita Kasih Hospital, Medika Sangatta SOHC Hospital, PT Sinergi Agro Industri, and PT Indonesia Plantation Synergy.
