Free birth control as part of the family planning program is served on June 14 with the types of pills, condoms, injections, and vasectomy.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Population Control and Family Planning Department (DPPKB) provided free birth control services with a target of 2,250 acceptors at the Multipurpose Building, Sangkulirang District (06/14). The objective of this activity is to increase access to quality family planning services for couples of childbearing age. Free contraception is served for one full day on June 14, 2023, with the types of pills, condoms, injections, and vasectomy.
This activity is a series of free family planning services carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia, namely the One Million Acceptors Program. The event is also to commemorate the 30th National Family Day which adopted the theme “Towards a stunting-free family for Indonesia Onward”.
In addition to free birth control services, this activity was also coupled with handing over a certificate of appreciation from the Representative of the East Kalimantan National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) to the leader of the East Kutai Empowerment and Family Welfare Mobilization Team (TP PKK), Siti Robiah.
In his opening remarks, East Kutai Vice Regent Kasmidi Bulang emphasized that family is the first foundation in fostering growth and development as well as the formation of individual personality. “Family planning development program is our shared responsibility. A large and quality population can indeed be a capital for development,” said Kasmidi.
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the East Kutai DPPKB, Ronny Bonar Hamonangan Siburian said that the free contraception service for a million acceptors is an annual activity held simultaneously throughout Indonesia. In 2021, the target of 1,530 acceptors has been achieved 100%. The following year, its implementation exceeded the target of 110.86%, namely reaching 2,960 acceptors from the original target of 2,670 acceptors. In 2023, this program targets 2,250 acceptors.
“Hopefully the moment of the 30th National Family Day can increase community participation in family planning and can prevent stunting,” concluded Ronny.
