Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Head of the East Kutai Regency Government’s Department of Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Coding (Diskominfostaper), Ronny Bonar H. Siburian, stated that providing technological infrastructure is vital to the government’s success.

“This is certainly inseparable from the role of East Kutai Regent H. Ardiansyah Sulaiman and Deputy Regent Kasmidi Bulang, who aim to make East Kutai a smart city in eastern Indonesia. This aligns with their vision and mission,” Ronny explained recently in Samarinda.

One of Regent Ardiansyah and Vice Regent Kasmidi Bulang’s visions and missions is to create closer service points for the community, especially reaching those in remote areas. To achieve this, Diskominfostaper, which leads in communication and information services, continues to improve services by providing village internet services. Initially, in 2021, the village internet service covered 60 villages. Then, from 2022 to the present, the service points have expanded to 139 villages, two urban villages, and two preparatory villages.

“Increasing bandwidth capacity every year is necessary to meet the needs of village offices due to the growing number of service applications and to speed up the data communication process,” Ronny added.

Furthermore, he emphasized, “Although bandwidth capacity is continuously increasing, I hope the community can utilize this internet service efficiently and effectively, including supporting productive social and economic activities. Additionally, there are now 38 villages using fiber optic networks for network technology enhancement.”

“To support digital transformation in East Kutai Regency, the government must provide technological infrastructure and improve human resource capacity, enabling the provided ICT infrastructure to be well-managed and used efficiently and effectively. It should be directed as much as possible to improve the quality of public services and for productive purposes, as we are doing today by providing training to all village officials in East Kutai,” he concluded.
