East Kutai Communication and Informatics Service, Encoding, and Statistics Department has applied media center management as implemented in DKI Jakarta Province, one of which is a public complaint channel namely SP4N LAPOR.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kalimantan Government through the Bureau of People’s Welfare in the sector of Communication, Informatics, Statistics, Encryption, and Transportation conducted a comparative study to DKI Jakarta Province to strengthen the media center management on November 29, 2022, at Artotel Suites Mangkuluhur, Jakarta.

The activity is attended by all heads of the Communication and Informatics Department from ten regencies/cities in East Kalimantan, including the Head of the East Kutai Communication and Informatics Service, Encoding, and Statistics Department (Diskominfo Perstik) Ery Mulyadi.

According to Ery, East Kutai has applied media center management as implemented in DKI Jakarta Province, one of which is a public complaint channel. “We have implemented several things in East Kutai, for example, the DKI Jakarta Government manages thirteen complaint channels while East Kutai only utilizes one channel, namely SP4N LAPOR,” said Ery (11/29)

SP4N LAPOR can be accessed through several platforms, including a website, android application, telephone, or SMS. Those who do not have internet access can access the complaint channel through telephone or SMS.

The complaint management system has been utilized in East Kutai since 2017 but is still managed by the inspectorate. At the end of 2021, the Department of Communication and Informatics Service, Encoding, and Statistics took over the management of SP4N LAPOR. Ery delivered that currently a lot of East Kutai people access SP4N LAPOR to convey their issues and aspirations to the regency government.

“Based on the records we received, SP4N LAPOR has been widely used by the community to convey issues, aspirations, and information to local governments. This is quite familiar in the East Kutai community,” said Ery.

Further, according to Ery, not all complaints can be directly handled by the East Kutai Government. If public complaints fall under the authority of the regency government, Ery and his staff will be able to handle these complaints directly. However, if the complaint is outside the authority of the regency government, the Department will forward the complaint to the related provincial government or the central government.

Besides the complaint system, DKI Jakarta Government collaborates with a number of media that have been verified by the press council both for online and print media. Ery delivered that his party will facilitate all media in East Kutai to be registered in the press council. Further, he will also support journalists in East Kutai to be certified through a competency test.
