East Kalimantan has major challenges in preparing all aspects of relocating the capital in 2024, including infrastructure, human resources, and regulations.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta expressed its support for the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan, which is currently preparing to become the new capital, namely the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN). One of the supports is manifested in a study of strengthening media center management on November 29, 2022.
Head of Public Communication Division of DKI Jakarta Province Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Department (Diskominfotik) Nuruning Septarida delivered that the study aims to share technical experience in media center management.
“Our goal is to share technical experience in implementing media center management carried out by the DKI Jakarta Diskominfotik as requested by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, which is currently preparing itself as the new capital city, specifically in managing media centers,” said Nuruning.
Further, according to her, East Kalimantan has major challenges in preparing all aspects of relocating the capital in 2024, including infrastructure, human resources, and regulations. The task of relocating the capital requires speed and accuracy in both planning and implementation, including issuing regulations as needed.
She said, “Later several government offices will be relocated there. Therefore, East Kalimantan will prepare government administration facilities sourced from the nation’s capital. In my opinion, this is challenging since relocating the capital city is a big task from the central government to the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan.”
After the capital moves to East Kalimantan, Nuruning emphasized that DKI Jakarta Province will continue to grow and develop to optimize public services. In the future, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is willing to share more experiences with East Kalimantan in carrying out its duties as the nation’s capital even though the two provinces have different characteristics.
Nuruning expected that the study will become an aspiration and inspiration for the East Kalimantan Provincial Government in implementing media center management in the new capital city.
The Head of the East Kutai Communication and Informatics Service, Encoding, and Statistics Department (Diskominfo Perstik) Ery Mulyadi also participated in the study of strengthening media center management with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
Ery delivered that East Kutai Regency Government has applied media center management as implemented by DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, one of which is the management of public complaint channel. “We have implemented several things in East Kutai, for example, the DKI Jakarta Government manages thirteen complaint channels while East Kutai only utilizes one channel, namely SP4N LAPOR,” said Ery (11/29).
In addition to the complaint system, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also collaborates with a number of media that have been verified by the press council both for online and print media. Following up on what DKI Jakarta carries out, Ery conveyed that his party will facilitate all media in East Kutai to be registered in the press council. Further, he will also support journalists in East Kutai to be certified through a competency test.
