Presenting 50 brands, GIIAS 2024 will be one of the world’s largest automotive expo

Presenting various innovative brands, GIIAS 2024 target to distribute 1 million vehicles. 

Heaptalk, Jakarta – The 31st GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024 will be different to its previous organizing. Presenting around 50 brands worldwide and expanding its venue into 112,000 sqm, the event which will be held on 18-28 July 2024 is claimed to be the World’s largest automotive expo outside China. 

“Outside automotive exhibition in China, this event will be the World’s largest automotive expo. And our tight competitor is Bangkok Auto Show,” stated the Chairman of GAIKINDO, Yohannes Nangoi, during the GIIAS 2024 press conference in Jakarta (05/06).

According to Nangoi, the national automotive industry experience great turbulence in Q1 2024, falling by 22% yoy. This poor performance is driven by several factors, such as the presidential election, strict regulation, and the spike of raw material price. 

He added, “Moreover, the geopolitical issues and the Dollar rising against Rupiah are also be a major cause that decrease the growth of the national automotive industry.” 

For this reason, Nangoi conveyed that GIIAS 2024 is expected to revive the Indonesian automotive industry. 

In its implementation, the automotive expo will be participated by 50 brands comprises of commercial vehicles, passenger cars, carroseries, motorcycle, and automotive aftermarkets from various countries worldwide. Moreover, financing industry, such as Astra Financial also will join the event.

“GIIAS 2024 will present multiple brands from many countries, including from the US, China, Japan, and more. There are over 10 brands from Japan and China, respectively. A lot of Korean brands also to present at the event. Especially from the European brand,” stated Nangoi. 

In more detail, GIIAS 2024 will be followed by Audi, BAIC, BMW, BYD, Chery, Citroen, Daihatsu, GAC Aion, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, Jetour, KIA, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Neta, Nissan, Porsche, Seres, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, VinFast, Volkswagen, Volvo, Wuling. Meanwhile, the commercial vehicles that will be present at the event are Hino, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Fuso, and UD Trucks.

According to the Chairman of the Gaikindo’s event organizer, Rizwan Alamsjah, about eight new brands from car and motorcycle manufacturers will join the event. Presenting various innovative brands, GIIAS 2024 eyes sales of 1 million vehicles.
