Heaptalk, Jakarta — Emergency Disaster Reduction and Rescue Expo (EDRR) Indonesia 2023 was officially held on October 19-21 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo).

The three-day exhibition was organized by the Comexposium Group, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Shanghai, and the Shanghai International Exhibition with the objective of providing innovations in disaster risk response and mitigation to the private and public sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.

Adopting the theme ‘Risk management and emergency response – key factors’, this year’s EDRR Indonesia involved more than 10,000 local and international professionals as well as 150 VIP delegates representing Indonesia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. This exhibition was also enlivened by the participation of 180 leading companies, such as Blu-Med, Zhongnei Power, Guodong Network Communication Group, Saic Maxus, MPMC Powertech Corp, Hefei Institute for Public Safety Research at Tsinghua University, GS Technology, and Made-in-China.

Commencing the activity, the Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (BNPP/Basarnas) Air Marshal Kusworo said this event was a follow-up to the meeting between Indonesia and China (10/19). Kusworo voiced, “EDRR can be a holistic platform to build the public perception and awareness of increasing national resilience in disaster management through collaboration between the government, international institutions, and the community.”

Towards a Golden Indonesia and a resilient nation 2045

Meanwhile, the Chairman of CCPIT Shanghai Minhao Zhou stated that EDRR Indonesia 2023 carries a mission to improve disaster management capabilities while promoting security technology in the context of anticipating and handling post-disasters. “We are here to encourage cooperation to improve our ability to protect life and our respective countries through disaster prevention and exchange of knowledge. This platform is a form of international cooperation to strengthen cooperation between these two countries,” Zhou explained.

Head of Deputy for Systems and Strategy at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Raditya Jati appreciated EDRR Indonesia 2023 which encourages the further role of technology in disaster management. Raditya said, “Technology is necessary in the entire disaster management cycle, including pre-disaster, preparation and preparedness, then when a disaster occurs, and also during the reconstruction and rehabilitation period. Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045 and a resilient nation in 2045, Indonesia can progress based on technology and collaboration with other countries as seen today.”

EDRR Indonesia 2023 displayed extensive coverage of knowledge and technology for emergency disaster prevention and mitigation, rescue equipment and services, protective equipment, security industry services, safety science, fire emergency rescue equipment, renewable comprehensive rescue solutions, as well as public safety and equipment police.

In addition, this exhibition also included discussions on flood control and urban drainage solutions, industrial safety protection, epidemic prevention materials, emergency services for industry, as well as sharing emergency safety experiences. (Translated by Sinta)
