Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s payment gateway company, Xendit, in collaboration with Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, has established Indonesia Venture Capital Database 2023. The launch of this database aims to aid startup practitioners in identifying potential funding partners and expediting their fundraising process amidst the current tech winter phenomenon.

Xendit’s Co-Founder and COO, Tessa Wijaya, observed that fundraising had become the foremost defiance faced by startup industries in Indonesia, both early-stage and growth-stage. Through this collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Tessa emphasized continuing back the startup ecosystem and growing Indonesia’s digital economy, one of which is releasing this Venture Capital Database 2023.

“We expect Indonesia Venture Capital Database 2023 establishment could be utilized as an accurate and trusted information source for startup business evolution in the country,” Tessa said in her statement.

In more detail, this database enables startups to figure out crucial information, covering investors’ profiles, investment criteria, investment portfolios, and contact persons. On the other hand, startup founders can also obtain further details regarding the community partners, namely institutions and companies, to foster their business progression. As a result, this venture capital database 2023 is available on Xendit’s official website. Indonesia’s startup founders and investor parties can download this database free of charge.

According to Statista data, Indonesia has about 2,300 technology startups, with more than 11 unicorn startups operating in multiple industries. This positive trend has enacted the archipelago in the fifth position as the county with the most startup worldwide. The report also reveals the investment amount of Venture Capital that pours the fund into Indonesia’s startups attained US$9.3 billion, which was scattered over 220 funding projects.

Head of the Working Group on Venture Capital Financing and Specific Financing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ginda Manurung, observed that this collaboration is needed during the current tech winter conditions to continue advancing the startup ecosystem and provide strategic assistance to the companies engaged in the venture capital.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy greatly appreciates Xendit for initiating data compilation on venture capital in Indonesia. This action is one of our strategic moves to speed up the digital economy in the archipelago. The launch of this database also aligned with the Ministry program, namely Indonesia Business Matchmaking (IBIM), which intends to bridge investors and creative economy players. Together with many stakeholders, Indonesia’s government will continue synergizing to realize a more advanced digital economy,” Ginda concluded.
