Heaptalk, Jakarta — NTT Ltd., a giant technology company, launched Edge-as-a-Service, a managed-edge computing platform that allows companies to rapidly adopt, manage, and monitor applications closer to the edge computing.
NTT and VMware, and in collaboration with Intel, focus on providing solutions and services, specifically in edge computing. Through the cooperation, NTT utilizes Edge Compute Stack from VMware to support Edge-as-a-Service, and VMWare adopts NTT’s Private 5G technology as part of its edge solution. NTT, VMware, and Intel, will further market this new service through joint innovation, sales, and integrated business development.
NTT’s latest product is claimed to boost the automation of business processes by providing near-zero latency to the company’s apps in the edge environment, optimizing cost, and improving users’ experience in a safe network ecosystem. This product is also supported by VMware’s Edge Compute Stack, spanning Private 5G connectivity that will be implemented worldwide under Intel network and edge technology.
Launching this product, Shahid Ahmed, the Global Leaders for New Ventures and Innovation at NTT, stated that by delivering the combination of Edge and Private 5G, the company aims to be a game changer for its users and the entire industry.
In addition, Ahmed also added, “The combination of Edge Compute Stack from VMware, and Private 5g NTT will provide a unique solution that will generate a significant result to companies who desire optimal performance and cost efficiency for crucial application in edge network. Minimum latency, maximum processing strength, and global scope are the components required by companies to accelerate their unique digital transformation journey.”
NTT perceives the need for distributed computing processing power and data storage with real-time response to become bigger, aligning with the trend of the use of robots in factories and manufacturing switch to an omnichannel model. Therefore, the product is considered to provide a solution to bridge this gap.
“The companies will be more distributed – from their digital architecture and human resources that run their business every day. This will promote a great revolution in each industry, changing the place where the data is produced, sent, and consumed,” stated Sanjay Uppal, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Service Provider, and Edge business unit, VMware. “Bringing Edge Compute Stack VMware to Edge-as-a-Service NTT will enable our consumers to build, run, manage, connect, and protect edge-native apps better in Near and Far Edge while capitalizing on infrastructure and consistent operation with the power of edge computation.
