JAKARTA, Indonesia, 24 Agustus 2026 – As Southeast Asia’s largest economy, Indonesia holds a strategic position in the global pulp and paper industry, ranking among the world’s top six largest paper producers. The industry contributes billions of US dollars to the national economy each year.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry (2025), the paper, paper products, and printing sector contributes 3.73 percent to the GDP of the non oil and gas processing industry. In the same year, pulp exports reached US$3.60 billion and paper exports reached US$4.57 billion, while the industry employs more than 280,000 direct workers and approximately 1.2 million indirect workers. Amid this growth, the demand for more efficient production technologies, innovation, and sustainability driven solutions continues to rise and driving the need for a platform that connects industry players with technology providers, suppliers, buyers, and business partners from across the globe. Addressing this need, the Indonesia International Paper Chain Industry Exhibition (Paper Chain Expo) 2026 will return to Indonesia on 27 to 29 August 2026.
Paper Chain Expo 2026 is organized by China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC) together with the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association (APKI), with Maison Events Indo as the Official Local Partner in Indonesia, and with the support of the Vietnam Pulp and Paper Association (VPPA), the Pulp Molding Packaging Professional Committee of China Packaging Federation (PMPPCCPF), and the EP Paper Industrial Professional Committee (EPPIPC).
As one of the world’s largest pulp and paper producers, Indonesia’s domestic industry faces increasing pressure to strengthen product innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainable manufacturing practices to maintain its global competitiveness. Paper Chain 2026 addresses these critical needs by serving as a strategic hub where technology providers connect directly with Indonesian pulp, paper, and converting industry leaders.
Suhendra Wiriadinata, Chairman of the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association (APKI), emphasized
the vital role of technology collaboration for the sector’s future:
“Indonesia’s pulp and paper industry stands on a strong foundation, but our next priority is driving higher value-add through new technology adoption and more efficient processes. APKI fully supports Paper Chain 2026 as a concrete platform for industry players to discover operational solutions, build strategic partnerships, and enhance our manufacturing competitiveness moving forward.”
This event does not stand alone — it is part of a long term bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and China in the pulp and paper sector. Since 2023, CNCIC and APKI have been running the China Indonesia Paper Industry Deep Cooperation Mechanism to promote trade, technology exchange, and industrial collaboration between the two countries across the pulp, paper, and paper based products sectors. The strong trade relationship between the two nations further underscores the relevance of this cooperation, with approximately 75 percent of pulp exports in 2024 destined for China. Within this framework, Paper Chain Expo serves as the flagship platform connecting industry resources from Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Russia, India, and the Middle East.
Over three days, Paper Chain Expo 2026 will feature more than 67 exhibitors from various countries, showcasing technologies, materials, production equipment, and supporting industry solutions. The exhibition covers five main categories, namely chemicals for paper and packaging manufacturing; pulp and paper machinery and pulp molding equipment; tissue paper equipment and smart manufacturing; eco friendly packaging, tissue paper, and derivative products; as well as wastewater treatment products and technologies for the paper industry.
Paper Chain Expo 2026 brings together business owners, industry associations, and stakeholders across the pulp, paper, and packaging supply chain, while serving as a platform for discussion and problem solving on key industry issues through various business forums. The exhibition is held colocated with PACKID, We Pack Southeast Asia, and Bakery Asean, delivering end to end paper and packaging solutions under one roof. The expo also features a business matching system, group visits to paper mills, and factory tours across Indonesia.
