Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Trade, in collaboration with the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI), officially launched the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2026 on Wednesday (05/21) at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta.

IFEX 2026 will occur from March 5-8, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City in Tangerang Regency, Banten. Trade Minister Budi Santoso stated that this event reflects the government and industry’s commitment to supporting national export growth. IFEX 2026 is expected to propel Indonesia’s furniture and craft sector further, which holds significant global market potential.

“We appreciate the collaborative efforts of associations, businesses, and stakeholders to enhance Indonesia’s non-oil and gas export performance through trade promotions like IFEX. This expo will strengthen Indonesia’s position as a competitive global furniture and crafts supplier, ” Budi Santoso (05/21).

He added that Indonesia is renowned for producing high-quality furniture, backed by abundant natural materials and superior aesthetic and functional craftsmanship. These factors give Indonesian furniture a competitive edge in international markets. Budi Santoso noted, “Indonesian furniture and craft businesses are increasingly adopting sustainability principles in their operations, adding value and reinforcing the positive image of Indonesian products worldwide.”

Despite positive growth, the minister emphasized the need to boost exports further, especially to compete with rival producers like Vietnam and Malaysia. “Global economic uncertainties and U.S. tariff policies could also impact Indonesia’s furniture and craft trade performance,” he cautioned.

Jan–Mar 2025, furniture and craft exports reached US$644.83 million, a 0.85% increase year-on-year. Top export destinations include the U.S., Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, and France. At the 2024 global ranking, Indonesia was the 20th-largest furniture and craft exporter, with US$2.43 billion in total exports.
