Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) recently held the Kejar Aksi (Creative Teaching, Acceleration, and Innovation) discussion forum, adopting the theme ‘Indonesian Education: Towards Golden Indonesia or Anxious Indonesia?’ Organized to commemorate National Education Day, the event highlighted the critical need for educational transformation as the foundation for achieving Golden Indonesia 2045.

Held at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as an official development partner, PSF emphasized that educational transformation requires comprehensive efforts and cannot be partially achieved. One key initiative is ensuring equitable access to technology and digital-era teacher training across Indonesia, particularly in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions.

Juliana, Head of Program Development and Guru Binar at Putera Sampoerna Foundation, explained, “PSF focuses on three strategic keys: First, sustainable teacher career development platforms like Guru Binar, to enhance educators’ digital competencies; second, providing tailored learning ecosystems for each partner school; and lastly, emphasizing strategic collaboration with the government and private sectors to expand digital infrastructure.”

However, challenges remain significant. Indonesia’s 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) scores ranked 68th out of 81 countries—359 in reading, 379 in mathematics, and 383 in science. A persistent issue is the lack of digital resources in schools, especially artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which remains underutilized despite its potential to revolutionize learning. To address this, PSF advocates for continuous teacher training, accessible tools and platforms, partnerships to broaden technology reach, and digital literacy and AI integration in curricula.

I Kadek Darsika Aryanta, a Guru Binar Ambassador, shared firsthand benefits, saying, “The impact has been profoundly positive since integrating technology, including AI, into my classes. Students are more enthusiastic as learning becomes engaging and interactive. Their performance has improved, evident in their active participation and better grades. PSF’s training, teaching materials, and mentorship have boosted our confidence and teaching quality.”

Maulani Mega Hapsari, Director of Junior High Schools at the Ministry’s Directorate General for Early Childhood, Basic, and Secondary Education, praised PSF’s collaboration and emphasized education transformation as a strategic step toward Golden Indonesia 2045. “We thank Putera Sampoerna Foundation for partnering with us to accelerate Indonesia’s education quality. We believe Golden Indonesia 2045 will materialize through thorough preparation—from regulations, facilities, to educational access, especially digital content,” Maulani concluded.
