Heaptalk, Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Governors of Papua Highlands and Bangka Belitung Islands on Thursday (04/17) at the State Palace in Jakarta.
The Governor of Papua Highlands, John Tabo, expressed his highest gratitude to President Prabowo for inaugurating him and other regional leaders at the State Palace. “Thank you very much, Mr. President. We convey our highest appreciation today. This is a good day for us Christians in Papua. During Easter, we received a great honor as we were sworn in at the palace—a happiness we never imagined,” said John Tabo.
He further stated that he would diligently carry out the mandate and programs set by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming to improve the welfare of the people. John Tabo also mentioned that he and his deputy governor would begin resolving existing issues in their region.
“We will once again establish a good legacy in this new autonomous region by implementing the messages conveyed by the President regarding people’s welfare programs, environmental protection, and advancing education—addressing issues of education and infrastructure that we must develop to enhance connectivity between provinces, regencies, districts, and villages,” John Tabo added.
On the other hand, the Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands, Hidayat Arsani, also expressed his commitment to executing government programs outlined by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming. He pledged to work hard following the sworn mandate. “We will work hard based on the mandate we have sworn to uphold. We will carry out the established programs, implement the Constitution, and execute legally compliant programs,” said Hidayat.
Furthermore, Hidayat vowed to resolve existing issues in his region, including smuggling problems that harm the state. He said this smuggling issue has also drawn President Prabowo’s attention. “Whatever the President orders, as long as it aligns with the law and regulations, we will carry it out. Moreover, the current President wants Bangka Belitung to address smuggling activities that harm the nation and its people—this is something I must resolve,” he concluded.
