Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Bintaro Design District (BDD) returns in 2024, hosted in Hutan Sampireun, Bintaro, with the theme Analog Reality. World-renowned Indonesian architect Andra Matin explained the theme during a pre-opening press conference at Kopi Manyar, Bintaro. (10/30)
According to Andra Matin, the theme of Analog Reality aims to remind people of a time before digital advancements made everything instantaneous, emphasizing that “analog” here refers to more than just traditional film or devices. Instead, it reflects on the imperfections of analog processes, which have fueled growth and opened new avenues for communal life and progress.
“We’re inspired by the spirit of young communities who see how design impacts daily life. Here, we can see how high-quality design influences a high-quality lifestyle,” explained Andra
This theme will be expressed through art installations spanning architecture, graphic design, interior design, product design, and other creative fields. Visitors can view these installations up close and interact directly with artists, engage with innovative installations, and participate in workshops for a hands-on experience.
Unlike traditional exhibitions held in single locations, BDD offers a unique experience, with installations spread across multiple venues within the same area. This allows visitors to experience both grand and small-scale artistic concepts. For example, architectural and interior design installations will be set up as accurate, functional spaces, allowing visitors to experience them as genuine buildings or rooms.
“There will also be open studios where visitors can see product design, interior design, and architecture studios up close. For instance, visitors might explore an architect’s project, visiting homes or buildings they’ve designed. Many installations by designers will also be set up in public spaces, making art accessible to everyone,” Andra added.
The 2024 BDD exhibition will be featured across various locations, including Alkahf Co-Working & Incubation Center Bintaro, The Mawi Bintaro, UPJ Bintaro, Studio Miles Film, and 30 additional sites across South Tangerang and BSD.
