Heaptalk, Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, inaugurated seven new Integrated Border Posts (PLBN) in a ceremony centered at the Napan PLBN in Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Wednesday. (10/02)
Jokowi emphasized that border regions represent the nation’s front line, and the construction of these PLBNs is a symbol of Indonesia’s progress and development.
“Ten years ago, I instructed the construction of all Border Posts. This is part of our effort to ensure equal development across the country, extending even to our national borders. These posts also serve as a buffer zone for national defense,” explained President Jokowi.
The President further stated that the construction of these PLBNs is part of a broader strategy to develop new economic hubs in border regions. Between 2015 and 2024, Indonesia has constructed 15 Border Posts, with 7 built from 2015 to 2019, and an additional 8 from 2020 to 2024.
“Today, we are inaugurating seven Integrated Border Posts, located across East Nusa Tenggara, Riau, the Riau Islands, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and South Papua, with a substantial amount of investment of Rp1.3 trillion,” said President.
He added that the presence of these Integrated Border Posts aims to enhance services for Indonesians crossing the borders, improve security in border areas, and stimulate the growth of new economic centers in these regions.
“I hereby inaugurate the seven Integrated Border Posts—Napan, Serasan, Jagoi Babang, Sei Nyamuk, Labang, Long Nawang, and Yetetkun—this afternoon,” the seventh President of Indonesia affirmed.
As is known, the inauguration was marked by the symbolic pressing of a siren button, followed by the signing of the plaques commemorating the opening of the seven new PLBNs.
Attending the ceremony, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, who serves as the head of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP), explained that the construction of these PLBNs was carried out according to President Jokowi’s directives. These instructions are outlined in Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2015 on the acceleration of development of seven integrated PLBNs, and Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2019, which mandates the construction of 11 more integrated PLBNs in border areas.
The seven PLBNs inaugurated by President Jokowi spread in multiple regions, spanning:
- Napan in Timor Tengah Utara Regency, NTT;
- Serasan in Natuna Regency, Riau Islands;
- Jagoi Babang in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan;
- Sei Nyamuk on Sebatik Island, North Kalimantan;
- Labang in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan;
- Long Nawang in Malinau Regency, North Kalimantan;
- Yetetkun in Ninati District, Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua.
