Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Indonesian Handicraft Exporters and Producers Association (Asephi) is hosting the Inacraft exhibition in October 2024 in collaboration with Mediatama. This year, Inacraft adopts the theme of Youthpreneur, Make It at Market, Totally Different.

Held from October 2-6, 2024, the exhibition showcases a variety of products across seven categories of raw materials: ceramics, natural fibers, metals, stones, textiles, wood, and other materials. Visitors can find batik, traditional textiles, Muslim fashion, woven fabrics, songket, embroidery, home décor, jewelry, accessories, household items, decorative pieces, travel goods, gifts, and miscellaneous crafts.

“I appreciate Asephi for organizing Inacraft, which not only provides a platform for MSMEs to innovate and collaborate but also leverages cultural wealth as a competitive advantage in the global market,” said Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki at the Inacraft on October 2024 opening ceremony (10/02).

Teten observed that young people are increasingly drawn to craft products, which signifies that Indonesia has a solid foundation to support its economy. The craft sector is one of the three main subsectors of the creative economy, contributing 15% of the national GDP.

The Inacraft on October exhibition aims to attract 100,000 visitors and targets retail transactions of Rp5 billion, approximately US$324,900 with US$1 equal to Rp15,389, and trade contacts expected to reach $1 million. Chairman of Asephi’s Central Board, Dr. Muchsin Ridjan, explained that the exhibition seeks to break away from massive and conventional formats.

“We are introducing a visual concept breakthrough with a segment that facilitates Generation Z. This phase is being tested on 25% of the exhibitor area. A total of 897 booths have been set up, consisting of 27 state-owned enterprises, four ministries, 80 regional offices, and 785 individual participants. We are also combining culinary and handicrafts under the Talam Inacraft Tasty Indonesia theme, featuring 71 booths in two areas: the Mezzanine and Hall B,” Muchsin said.

Through Inacraft, Asephi has made a maximum effort to uphold the dignity and revival of MSMEs from the pandemic to the present. The association also focuses on digital transformation. “Asephi supports the efforts and initiatives of the government—through the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Communication and Information—to protect MSMEs and ensure their survival and growth both domestically and internationally,” Muchsin concluded.
