Heaptalk, Jakarta — Agritech startup Koltiva ties with Ministry of Agriculture to launch the Horticulture Development Dryland Area Project (HDDAP), scheduled to run from 2024 – 2028. This program aims to increase the productivity, quality, and value chain improvements of horticultural products in Indonesia and involves producers in 13 districts within seven provinces.

On May 20th – 22nd, 2024, the Ministry and Koltiva startup conducted field visits to the seven provinces, North Sumatra, West Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, East Java, and Central Java, to monitor the HDDAP program implementation, which intends to optimize over 10,000 hectares of dry land into horticultural cultivation areas, with the assistance of KoltiTrace MIS technology to elevate traceability and agricultural management.

During the kick-off event in Surabaya last month, these entities emphasized that the HDDAP program will run for five years and aim to provide substantial benefits to producers, including the empowerment of women. The program includes agricultural modernization, collaboration between producers and the private sector, stimulation of market demand, and enhancement of the business capacity of producer groups.

This project will focus on agricultural transformation through digitization and deliver a tangible impact on the lives of producers by providing direct assistance in agricultural production facilities and skill enhancement. Through this program, producers receive essential support such as fertilizers, farming equipment, and other production means, enabling them optimize agricultural practices and increase crop yields, ultimately contributing to their economic well-being.

“This collaboration underscores the importance of uniting all stakeholders, from suppliers to governments to customers, competitors, and society in general in achieving shared objectives. Leveraging advanced tools for project management and data tracking further amplifies this collaboration, ensuring seamless coordination and optimization of resources,” the CEO and Co-Founder of Koltiva, Manfred Borer, affirmed.

In 2023, Koltiva has expanded its business reach globally. The team works with producers in 52 countries, almost half of these smallholders are in Indonesia. The rest are spread across Brazil, China, and the Ivory Coast. Also, the startup has over 1 million producers from 6,800 businesses. After bagging Series A funds for an undisclosed amount which led by AC Ventures, Koltiva continue to advance its software-as-a-service (SaaS)  to enable multinational companies to have supply chain traceability from seed to table.
