Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Inti) announced its cooperation with iConn Networks, Inc. DBA LigoWave, a wireless network provider from California, US, to strengthen telecommunication infrastructure and devices in Indonesia (06/13).

Inti and LigoWave will focus on localizing the production of advanced telco equipment, including wireless devices, Internet of Things (IoT) technology, smart meters, and 5G technology, in Indonesia. This partnership will encompass four aspects: local production, market expansion, technology transfer, and sustainable development by supporting Indonesia’s regulatory requirements on local content while contributing to technological advancements and national economic growth.

Inti’s Director of Finance, Human Resources, Law, and Risk Management Tantang Yudha Santoso and iConn Networks, Inc. DBA LigoWave’s CEO Turker Hidirlar signed a memorandum of understanding on the Potential Business of Telecommunication Devices in Indonesia in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia (06/13).

Providing devices for BAKTI’s service points

“This collaboration will not only enhance the company’s production capabilities in the wireless network solutions industry but also contribute to technological progress in the telecommunications field through high-quality products produced locally while supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation,” said Inti’s Director of Finance, Human Resources, Law, and Risk Management, Tantang Yudha Santoso.

Meanwhile, iConn Networks, Inc. DBA LigoWave’s CEO Turker Hidirlar emphasized that this partnership is crucial in improving connectivity in Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in bringing advanced telecommunication technologies to Indonesia. Turker said, “By localizing production and collaborating with PT Inti, we are committed to supporting technological infrastructure and driving innovation in the Indonesian region.”

The Indonesian government, through the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, has launched the Satria 1 BAKTI Satellite, designed as a broadband satellite to provide fast internet access services. This service is expected to serve public service points in education, health, and government sectors that are not yet reached by fast internet access through fiber optic networks or base transceiver stations (BTS).

According to data released by the Ministry, the Satria 1 BAKTI Satellite has a total capacity of 150 Gbps for 150,000 service points, with each point requiring two access points. In 2023, this satellite’s installation recorded 14,357 service points installed, leaving 134,743 service points remaining. BAKTI will install 29,094 service points in 2024 with five recommended types of access points.

Inti and LigoWave plan to provide connectivity hardware for these service points, each with two access point devices produced by both companies. This will place these access points as the primary devices for all service points, aiming to meet the demand for more than 260,000 devices required for 134,743 service points.
