Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia-based climate tech startup Rekosistem recorded its multiple milestones by tackling about 35,000 tons of waste in 2023, an increase of approximately 84.2% compared to 2022.
As a result, Rekosistem’s recycling waste management produced around 13,100 tons, an increase of 435% compared to 2022. Aside from managing a significant amount of recycled rubbish last year, this climate-tech company also completed supplying around 5,800 tons of garbage to be processed as biofuel and other new renewable energy. Through circular economy-based waste management, this startup preserved about 16,167 tons of carbon in 2023 and manages and processes waste sustainably.
Regarding the transaction, this startup recorded that the number of transactions from application users who deposited waste at Reko Waste Station reached 53,600 waste deposits at 40 stations and Rekosistem Drop Boxes spread across Bandung, Surabaya, and Jakarta Greater Area. The company noted a massive evolvement in its result, touching 215.41% in 2023. In resolving the country’s waste issues, this startup has partnered with over 600 parties and has served more than 150 companies.

As Rekosistem’s material recovery facility, the team has expanded Reko Hub to 14 hubs spread throughout Indonesia’s metropolis around Java, spanning Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya. In this facility, Indonesia’s Rekosistem assembled the waste to be sorted, processed, and channeled to the to be sorted, processed, and distributed recycling industry.
This year, this startup plans to broaden services and increase coverage areas to improve efficiency, sustainability, and environmental impact. To maximize waste management, Rekosistem will continue to adopt the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine Learning to simplify the waste accumulation process, expecting to increase the waste management capacity of 20,000 tons monthly by 2025.
