Heaptalk, Jakarta – On Tuesday (27/02) Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas encountered Deputy Head of Mission to Indonesia Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) Stephen Scott at PANRB Ministry Office. That meeting discussed various things, with digital transformation in Indonesian government and collaboration between the two countries as one of the topics.
“Recently, Indonesian government has done a digital transformation through the Government Techonology (GovTech) development. During my visit to Australia, I understand that the challenges in Indonesia are similar with the ones in Australia on its early days,” explained Anas.
Anas said one of the similar challenges with Australia is the numerous local governments. To overcome it, there should be an interoperability application and data from each government instances to be connected with each other without new application.
Therefore, central government is now preparing a national portal to interoperate all government’s main service to the community. Anas also explained that currently there are 9 government priority services that integrated to the portal so it will be accessible for publics.
“As stated by the ministers from United Kingdom, Estonia, Japan, Korea including Australia Public Service Minister that we encountered on our visit, government digitalization is not only about technology but also about political commitment. This decision is important how digitalization become government’s priority and commitment, and we are currently crafting policies to back this,” Anas continued.
Through that opportunity, Anas also appreciates the collaboration between PANRB Ministry and APSC. “We appreciate the collaboration between PANRB Ministry and APSC, even through Propsera (Indonesia Australia Partnership Program for the Economy). We hope that Prospera will provide us a team to accompany us for the collaboration,” Anas declared.
Secretary Ministry of PANRB Rini Widyantini also conveyed her acknowledgement toward ASPC and Prospera that have accompanied PANRB Ministry in many things, including public service and bureaucratic reformation. She reveled that APSC has a good program in government digitalization, including digital service.
“Digitalization in government is impossible to be carried out without a bureaucratic reformation. Through a collaboration with APSC, we can work together to finalize digital government transformation in Indonesia,” said Rini.
Apart from digital transformation, the meeting also examined the recurring transmigration of the country’s capital from Jakarta to Nusantara this year. Australia had been moving its capital city from Melbourne to Canberra in 1927.
Said meeting also discussed about GovTech, CASN selection system, as well as digital population identity (IKD). On January 2023, PANRB Ministry and APSC have committed to work together in implementing bureaucratic reform, enhancing policies, and building ASN capacity.
