Heaptalk, Jakarta – In 2024, Creative Economy and Tourism Minister, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, place a target of 14,3 million visits from foreign tourists in Indonesia.
On Friday (23/02), Sandiaga Uno declared on his press release, “Such a realistic target from the successful 2023 achievement that surpassed the target of 8,5 million.”
In order to achieve the target, Sandiaga Uno planned to bring Taylor Swift to Indonesia. “We want to experience Swiftnomics for tourism industry in Indonesia,” Sandiaga Uno said.
Swiftnomics is the phenomena where Taylor Swift has the ability to influence local economics through her act. Notably, Taylor Swift’s concerts have significant impacts in several countries where the concert is held.
Furthermore, Sandiaga Uno stated, the country will issue an amount of fund worth USD128 million (USD1 equals to Rp15,627) for tourism needs or Indonesia Tourism Fund (IFT). The minister thought international artist concerts will always bring profits for the country’s economy.
“This year, the government will give fund worth of USD128 million through special tourism fund or Indonesia Tourism Fund (ITF). We will use the fund to initiate local and international events, with the hope to increase the number of tourists and create a wider job opportunities,” Sandi promised.
However, he apologized for not able to invite the superstar Taylor Swift in the near future because of her packed schedules.
“Unfortunately for Swifties, I apologize that Taylor Swift is unable to come here. She is already fully booked in Singapore but this is surely going to be our evaluation for our next plan,” Sandi concluded the press.
