Heaptalk, Jakarta — In commemoration of the 78th National Electricity Day, Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) delivered its full support to assist in disseminating developments in the energy transition.
“Indonesia has the second largest reserves of new renewable energy sources in the world with a combination of diverse energy potentials. As Government Public Relations (GPR), Kominfo is certainly committed to continuing to help disseminate information related to the energy transition,” said Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics Nezar Patria when opening the commemoration of the 78th National Electricity Day at ICE BSD Tangerang (11/14).
Indonesia has committed to achieving net zero emissions by reducing carbon emissions in the electricity sector to zero by 2060. He voiced, “This big vision needs to be disseminated to increase community participation in supporting this national strategic agenda.”
According to Nezar, currently, the government has a new and renewable energy mix target of 23% by 2025. This target certainly requires collaborative work from the relevant ministries/institutions, electricity and energy companies, as well as the community.
Energy transition is a big vision
“Energy transition is Indonesia’s big vision. We should be proud as we have the Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant as the embodiment of concrete steps for this big dream,” he emphasized.
For this reason, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics expressed its support for energy transition efforts to make Indonesia not only a consumer of technology and human resources from abroad but also a producer. Nezar added, “We will continue to support the energy transition program, surely by increasing national capacity as well. We also fully support the energy transition to accelerate Indonesia’s sustainable digital transformation.”
The commemoration of the 78th National Electricity Day was also attended by the Director General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Jisman Parada Hutajulu, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Indonesian Electricity Society and President Director of PT PLN Darmawan Prasodjo, as well as General Chair of the Indonesian Electricity Society Evy Haryadi.
