Through the Digiers Day, the ministry facilitates the digiers to access knowledge and skills to enter the career world.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) organized Digiers Day for alumni of the digital talent development training, called digiers, in Jakarta (12/21). This activity aims as a means to bridge the digiers to share information about job opportunities and talent development.
During 2022, the ministry grants digital training scholarships for 200 thousand of digital talents, both from basic skills and intermediate to advanced levels. After completing the training, the digiers will be equipped with the knowledge and skills before entering the career world, one of which is through the Digiers Day activity.
Department Head of the Human Resources Research and Development, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Hary Budiarto said, “Today is the peak, a happy day called Digiers Day, which is a day for digital talents. They have attended training, and have carried out or studied in the digital field. Today we are introducing information and job opportunities after completing the training series.”
Currently, the ministry consistently provides job vacancies and competency development through multiple mediums. Hary said, next year, digital talents can take advantage of the Metaverse as a learning medium, unlike now the learning session is conducted through video conferencing or face-to-face. The Metaverse will include the provision of modules as well as simulations and job search information.
Changing the mindset to digital tech-based
“Those are breakthroughs from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to deliver the best service in developing digital human resources or digital talent,” said Hary. In more detail, the ministry initiated the Digital Talent Scholarship, which grants scholarships for the nation’s children to improve their skills and competencies in the field of digital technology.
Further, digital talent is needed to enter the era of industry 4.0 and digital society 5.0 shifting the government’s focus from digitalizing to digital transformation. According to Hary, Digital transformation aims to change conventional mindsets into digital technology-based ones. By joining the training, participants’ competency is expected to increase and shape a new mindset.
Hary said, “Digital transformation demands a competency that is more than the current, anyone who does not follow along will experience disruption. That describes the characteristic of digital transformation. Therefore, we have to keep up with the progress and developments of digital technology.”
In his closing statement, Hary hoped that the ministry and partners would collaborate to conduct a training session in 2023 in conjunction with job recruitment, as an improvement from this year’s session.
