Heaptalk, Jakarta — Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani stated that the younger generation has the potential to become dynamists as they have the ability to absorb knowledge and competence. Therefore, they must prepare themselves well as future policymakers.
“As the epicenter of young policymakers, you (need to) anticipate. The most difficult task for policymakers is to look at data and trends and then formulate anticipatory steps,” said Sri Mulyani at the Commencement Day of Young Directorate General of State Assets Management (DJKN Muda) entitled ‘Epicentrum of Young Policy Makers in Jakarta.
However, Sri Mulyani admitted that behind this great potential, the younger generation is also faced with multiple challenges, such as increasingly fierce global competition, rapid technological changes, and risks due to climate change. For this reason, competence is the key to facing these challenges.
She explained, “The first thing is that you (must) continue to learn to gain competency. And competency (can) be acquired through training, exposure, sometimes failure, sometimes disappointment, and sometimes success.”
Further, the Minister encouraged the younger generation to continue learning and developing to prepare themselves to become future policymakers. Learning is not only carried out at school or campus but also in the world of work. The younger generation must have an attitude that always wants to learn and absorb knowledge from people who are more senior. By continuing to learn and develop competencies, they can become dynamists and create new value for the nation.
“I would like to thank DJKN for continuing to provide a platform for young DJKN to have the enthusiasm to improve themselves in building competence and also a good work ethic. Being young is like a sponge. Be sure to continue to absorb knowledge and competence, but above all that is the (good) character,” Sri Mulyani concluded. (Translated by Sinta)
