The transformation will be followed by the new roles of Tony Fernandes as Move Digital Executive Chairman and Nadia Omer as AirAsia Move CEO.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The digital arm of Capital A, AirAsia Digital, announced its rebranding to Move Digital, marking a new chapter in the next growth phase through two business entities, namely AirAsia Superapp and BigPay (09/18).
This transformation will be applied to travel platform business under Move, namely Airasia Superapp, which will soon be renamed Airasia Move. Following the changes, co-founder of AirAsia and CEO of Capital A Tony Fernandes will serve as Executive Chairman of Move. With his new role, he is expected to encourage close collaboration between Airasia Superapp, which has now been refreshed as AirAsia Move, and BigPay to open up the potential and synergy of this digital business.
According to Tony, the name Move better represents the entity as the digital arm of Capital A. This new brand also emphasizes its commitment to moving people, ideas, and innovation forward within the travel space.
“Imagine seamless access to travel and financial services on one single platform, with integrated financial features such as balance display, top-up, and payments from BigPay and further strengthening the value proposition of AirAsia Move as the travel app of choice,” said Tony.
Introducing new AirAsia Move CEO
AirAsia Digital also introduced Nadia Omer as the new CEO of AirAsia Move effective October 26, 2023. Tony conveyed that the new CEO will advance AirAsia Move’s vision as a low-cost, high-converting travel platform. He added, “Mohamad Hafidz, who is currently the acting CEO will continue leading the business in the interim and I would like to thank him for his contributions throughout the past few months.”
Along with that, Tony said that Nadia will also work closely with BigPay, led by Zubin Rada Krishnan. In the last two years, AirAsia Superapp has developed into a travel platform offering integrated services from end to end. Meanwhile, BigPay shows its capabilities as a fintech player through financial management services for people in Southeast Asia.
Both of Capital A’s digital businesses have demonstrated significant work results. AirAsia Superapp recorded its highest number of monthly active users at 15 million at the end of Q2 2023. BigPay card users also showed growth of 16% YoY in the same period. Tony hopes this transformation can enrich the user experience and provide more integration features of BigPay within the AirAsia Move app, formerly AirAsia Superapp, as soon as possible.
