Technical guidance on public information openness is carried out over two days, attended by 120 representatives from all regional apparatus organizations, districts, and villages.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Department of Communication and Informatics, Statistics and Encryption (Diskominfo Staper) East Kutai held technical guidance on increasing access to public openness for information and documentation management officials (PPID) which took place in the Galaxi Room 1 of the Mercure Hotel Samarinda.

The activity, which was held for two days on June 7-8, 2023, was attended by 120 participants, consisting of heads and secretaries of regional apparatus organizations, district heads, village heads, as well as district and village representatives.

Commencing the event, Vice Regent Kasmidi Bulang said that information openness provides opportunities for the public to participate in various public policies. Such public participation can encourage the implementation of good and clean governance. Kasmidi voiced, “Currently, as public servant, we are required to provide complete, open, transparent, and accountable information about what we do.”

In addition, all public bodies have an obligation to open access and serve the public in the provision and service of public information needed by the community. Duties and responsibilities in the management and service of public information are held by information and documentation management officials (PPID), starting from the process of collecting, providing, classifying, storing, documenting, and serving the information needed by the public.

According to the Head of the East Kutai Communication and Informatics, Statistics, and Encryption Department, Ery Mulyadi, the public’s right to obtain information is protected by Law no. 14 of 2008 on Public Information Openness.

Ery said, “As a public service institution, PPID is required to provide good service to the community. One of the carrying capacity is determined by the capacity of human resources. For this reason, he hopes that this technical guidance can provide new understanding and experience for all apparatus within the East Kutai Regency Government.
