Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Government apparently put a serious effort to support any education activities to enhance the society’s welfare. The efforts are demonstrated by the local government’s policy, as well as its activities which related to education, one of which is attending Kaltim Prima Coal’s (KPC) scholarship distribution on Tuesday. (06/06)
In more detail, the coal mining company in Sangatta will disburse scholarships named Beasiswa KPC Berdaya 2022-2023 to 201 recipients who are currently pursuing junior high, high school, diploma, and undergraduate education. The scholarship is given to the people of East Kutai who have financial limitations in completing their education.
Attending the scholarship award ceremony in Meranti Room (06/06), East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman expressed his gratitude for Kaltim Prima Coal’s innovation in caring for education through the distribution of scholarships. Previously, this company also prepared another scholarship namely Beasiswa Cerdas.
“Today, PT KPC is again providing Beasiswa Berdaya. It is hoped that these two types of scholarships can be increased again next year in terms of the number of recipients,” said Ardiansyah. According to him, from year to year, more and more students in East Kutai want to continue their education to a higher level.
Ardiansyah hopes that all parties in East Kutai can pay attention to education as this matter is not only the government’s obligation. Apart from KPC, several companies have distributed scholarships to students in the regency. Further, he asked the East Kutai Education and Culture Department to make an inventory of the companies that have distributed scholarships.
Meanwhile, according to the General Manager of External Affairs and Sustainable Development at Kaltim Prima Coal, Wawan Setiawan, education is an essential part of KPC’s empowerment program. He said that his party would continue to innovate in cooperating with the East Kutai Regency Government program.
Wawan voiced, “Of the seven education program areas launched by the East Kutai Regency Government, six of them have started running. There is only one program left, namely school accreditation.”
In addition to the scholarship, KPC also has several programs, spanning improving school infrastructure and increasing teacher capacity. “Surely we want to be an important part in improving the quality of education in East Kutai,” concluded Wawan.
