Rindang Benua is proposed to be a cultural village as of the existence of the Dayak Kenyah tribe who still preserves their cultural traditions.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Dayak Kenyah tribe in Rindang Benua Village held a Bengen Lepek Majeu Cultural Festival at Sangatta-Bontang Shaft Road KM 10, South Sangatta District (05/27). Bengen Lepek Majeu means harvest festival.
The East Kutai government is working on making this village one of the cultural villages in the regency. While attending the cultural festival, East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman expressed his appreciation to all residents, especially the Dayak Kenyah people who still maintain and preserve their ancestral cultural traditions to this day, one of which is by holding a harvest party.
Ardiansyah asked the people of Rindang Benua Village to be patient while waiting for the process of changing the spatial layout of the area which is currently being finalized by the local government.
“I think it is appropriate that Rindang Benua Village be made a cultural village as of its position right at the entrance to the regency capital, similar to Samarinda where there is the Pampang cultural village,” said Ardiansyah.
Meanwhile, the Head of the East Kutai Tourism Department, Nurullah, said that the Bengen Lepek Majeu Cultural Festival is a tradition that is still being maintained by the people of Rindang Benua Village, which started in 2009 until now.
In addition, the village which is located on Sangatta-Bontang Shaft Road is also being developed into a natural tourism village since it has the charm of natural beauty, namely a beautiful waterfall with its maintained naturalness.
“However, there are still problems with access to road infrastructure that need our attention. The location is quite far, about 13 km from the main road,” concluded Nurullah.
