Heaptalk, Jakarta – PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) have celebrated graduation for 64 students of Toyota Indonesia Academy (TIA) (3/18/2021), including 32 graduates Diploma 1 Batch 5 majoring in Techniques of Automation Machine Maintenance and 32 graduates Diploma 2 Batch 2 majoring in Operation Procedure for 4 Wheels Vehicle Assembly, a major already hold a national certification issued by National Professional Certification (BNSP). Different from previous years, the graduation in this year was conducted virtually in the graduate places respectively accompanied by their parent/guardian due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This graduation also attended by Prof. Dr. Uman Suherman, as the Coordinator of Private University Coordinator (Kopertis) in Regional IV LL DIKTI (the Higher Education Service Institution) West Java, Kunjung Masehat, the Head of BNSP, Beny Bandanadjaja, the Director of Professional and Vocational Higher Education, Directorate General of Vocational Education, as well as the President Director of PT TMMIN Warih Andang Tjahjono, assisted by the TMMIN management.
“In accordance with our motto, ‘We Make People Before We Make Product’, TIA is consistent in creating competitive Human Resources to generate advanced product in the automotive industry that inseparable from TMMIN and supply chain. During the last five years, we transfer both knowledge and technology through the learning process in TIA by prioritizing innovation-based high education curriculum for producing competent graduates that fulfill the global challenges,” said Warih Andang Tjahjono.
TIA Fifth Year’s Achievement in Indonesia
Since 2015, TIA has produced 223 graduates from Diploma 1 and Diploma 2 (batch 1 to batch 5) certified by BNSP. Most graduates have joined TMMIN and automotive supply chain companies. On its road, TIA has recorded achievement at the national and international level. TIA students majoring in Operation Procedure for 4 Wheels Vehicle Assembly will follow the World Skill competition with the category of Plastik Die Engineering” and “Prototype Modeling” in Shanghai, China in 2022. Meanwhile, at the national level, TIA student successfully obtained the 1st and 2nd ranks in national selection (Seleknas) held by The Ministry of Manpower and received the opportunity to be a participant in ASEAN Skill Competition (ASC) XIII for the Internet of Things (IoT) category in Singapore, next year. Two TIA lecturers also were invited by the Ministry of Manpower to be the experts in that field.
Generation Industry with Innovation Culture
Toyota Indonesia will focus on developing Human Resources through innovation culture to TIA students through learning to increase industry efficiency in the field of logistics, maintenance, and working standards. TIA students are trained to be active in delivering ideas and innovation in the production system to address efficient and effective production systems through system maintenance by creating tools that facilitate the production work, even so in daily activities.
Amidst the pandemic, TIA graduate’s creativity assisted by their mentor has created UV Robot as room sterilization aids by turning off various viruses without involving human contact. This robot can be controlled via remote by a single pilot long distance up to 300m inside the building and 1km outside the building. The robot is equipped with 2 cameras that can display views up to 360 degrees and able to operate for up to 5 hours with 2 hours of UV-C lamp. In addition, the robot has infrared sensors on eight sides that prevent it from crashing accidents when controlled. The use of Omni wheel also aims to make the robot can move back and forth from side to side and tilt without turning direction.
