Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonet’s subsidiary EDGE DC officially unveiled its second data center facility, EDGE2, in downtown Jakarta. Strategically located in Kuningan, South Jakarta, this second data center building has advanced technology to cater to increased demand from hyperscale and Artificial Intelligence (AI) deployment.
During the official launch, the Director General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Tech, Samuel Abrijani Pangerapan, delivered, “The need for data centers is increasing with society’s growth in the digital space. Data centers are an important platform to support digital transformation, including developing emerging technologies like cloud computing, AI, and blockchain.”
Moreover, the size of the Southeast Asia data center market is projected to increase by 135%, from 1,161 MW IT load to 2,733 MW IT load in 2028. Furthermore, in terms of consumption, Indonesia has a data center consumption level of 0.66 watts per capita.
Claimed to be the largest data center in the capital, EDGE2 has a total IT load of 23 megawatts (MW) and over 3,400 racks. To present scalability connectivity options, these data centers possess multiple simplicities, spanning access via a virtual campus to over 50 network carriers, several Internet exchanges (EPIX), and four diverse fiber entry points into the facility to further support interconnectivity and redundancy.
EDGE2 is designed to provide highly reliable and secure IT infrastructure to meet growing demand from hyperscalers, global tech companies, and various digital enterprises in Indonesia. This facility will offer Dual Power Source PLN Platinum with an industry-leading uptime guarantee, ensuring business continuity for its customers.
Aligned with the company’s ESG commitments, EDGE2 combines robust data center capacity with eco-friendly features, including renewable energy solutions and green building features that are on track to achieving LEED Gold Certification. In addition, innovative cooling technology enables EDGE2 to cater to high power density deployments while achieving a market-leading PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.24, making it the most energy-efficient data center in the Jakarta metro.
“The establishment of EDGE2 marks a significant leap forward, setting new standards and solidifying the company’s position as a leader in the industry. EDGE2 is designed to meet the evolving needs of businesses as they adapt to our increasingly digitized world, ensuring unparalleled security, reliability, and scalability of our customer’s mission critical infrastructure.“ Stephanus Oscar, CEO of EDGE DC, said,
