Heaptalk, Jakarta — Digital sovereignty can be defined as independence, freedom, supremacy, and authority over all digital assets. Phidi Soepangkat, CEO of DesktopIP, introduced the essence of owning and controlling the digital sovereignty stack in Indonesia during the 2nd Festival of Digital Innovation (FDI) at BSD City Marketing Office, Tangerang (08/23).
Many people associate sovereignty only with having control over location. However, Phidi emphasized, “We also need control over data, access, control over costs, and technology. When discussing digital sovereignty, there are ways to achieve it, one of which is through the digital sovereignty stack.”
In more detail, Phidi pointed out several essential factors in building the stack, including locally developed and controlled digital products and continuous innovation through research and development. Core competency is required to nurture local talent through appropriate training and industry exposure.
Additionally, localized customization is crucial, which can be realized by personalizing the digital product based on local demands and needs. Government regulation also plays a vital role in protecting data and digital assets and achieving sovereignty. By deploying the digital sovereignty stack, Phidi is optimistic that local players can dominate the domestic market and gain a share in the global market.
DesktopIP provides platforms to enhance the stack
Furthermore, this stride can lead Indonesia to develop its own capability by establishing an international standard certification. “Do we have the capability to achieve digital sovereignty? Yes, we do with total control over the digital sovereignty stack,” he emphasized.
During the 2nd FDI, Phidi showcased DesktopIP’s innovations to bolster the digital sovereignty stack in Indonesia, spanning Jaybod, Qubiql, and Mocaas. Overall, DesktopIP has achieved an average domestic content level of 85% for its products, reflecting the ability of local players to create digital products with domestic resources.
Jaybod is a cloud storage platform with an 87.71% domestic content level (TKDN). Qubiql is a productivity platform and digital self-companion tool for a collaborative environment with an 89.56% domestic content level. Mocaas provides an end-to-end content creation platform. All of these platforms run on DesktopIP’s cloud platform IfVirty, which has an 83.28% domestic content level.
