Heaptalk, Jakarta — Pertamina, a state-owned company whose primary business is oil and gas extraction, is primarily transitioning towards environmentally friendly energy. In realizing the Net Zero Emission by 2060, this SOE company has introduced multiple innovative technologies, one of which is Greenomina.

Greenomina, which stands for Green and Net Zero Emission Pertamina, offers a sophisticated toolset for calculating carbon footprints. Its primary objective is to empower businesses to make informed decisions regarding emissions reduction.

Companies or individuals can offset their carbon output from travel activities through precise calculations and strategic planning, aligning with global sustainability initiatives. This carbon offset application is accessible to everyone and can be downloaded from the Play Store.

“With this technology, everyone has the tools to calculate and offset their carbon emissions, making environmental responsibility a part of everyday life. People can use it immediately and be responsible for their emissions,” Greenomina’s Founder, Andi Hendra, said on the Forum Carbon Indonesia YouTube channel.

This carbon calculator application allows users to reckon emissions from various categories, including:

  • Transportation (car, motorbike, and airplane). Users can determine details about their travel emissions, counted by fuel and mileage.
  • Households (gas and electricity utilization). This app enables users to check their electricity consumption.
  • Waste and water. Users can input the amount of rubbish generated to be counted for the emission.

Greenomina uses a standardized algorithm to calculate carbon emissions based on user-entered data. The calculation results are formed in kilograms or carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) units. Users can identify their daily, monthly, and even yearly emission summaries.

As is known, Pertamina has internally unveiled Greenomina since November last year. This application recently seized second place in the idea competition at State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). This application is critical for Pertaminain to educate and encourage people to raise their awareness of their carbon emissions. Going forward, this application revealed the possibility of integrating blockchain technology for future carbon credit claims in Indonesia.
