Heaptalk, Jakarta – A giant messaging platform, WhatsApp, is reportedly going down, making millions of its users worldwide cannot sending and receiving messages. This issue does not seems to be limited to WhatsApp web, but also its mobile platform.
One of users’ complaint in social media mentioned that they cannot access the entire service of this platform, even, they unable to read the previous chat and watch WhatsApp stories. From Downdetector.com – a website to track outages across websites and applications- , WhatsApp is estimated to have been down since 1.38 pm in Jakarta time, proven by the sharp rise in the chart. This chart demonstrated the number of reports of consumers’ problems with the platform.
A massive spike, with 636 reports was detected at 2.10 pm and the highest graphic, with a total of 4,907 reports has been recorded by Downdetector at 2.20 pm. Its users around the world quickly respond to this issue by flooding social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram to get information about the problem. Million WhatsApp users’ responses, further, make an issue of the Meta-backed messaging platform become a trending topic.
As cited from Business Insider (10/25), Meta, Whatsapp’s parent company, confirmed that it is aware of the issue and is working on restoring service for people. Around 15.40, eventually, WhatsApp in Jakarta is back to normal. Until the news is released, WhatsApp is not delivering an official statement yet regarding the incident.
