Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s e-wallet platform DANA has partnered with international network remittance company RIA Money Transfer to provide inward remittance service for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI).
Regarding the details of this cooperation, Indonesian migrant workers who are RIA Money Transfer beneficiaries can send money to Indonesia by depositing cash through the services of this international network money transfer company by simply entering their phone numbers.
Subsequently, Remittance recipients are required to have a DANA account to receive funds according to the nominal amount deposited. Funds will be received as a DANA balance that can be used for various needs, from paying daily necessities to purchasing investments and insurance to loans available in this e-wallet application.
In response to this cooperation, the Chief of Product DANA Indonesia, Rangga Wiseno, voiced, “We believe the cooperation between DANA and RIA Money Transfer in implementing remittances can open up new opportunities to facilitate of migrant workers in sending money for their families and stabilize remittance performance in the future while increasing public financial inclusion,”
According to data from the Bank of Indonesia (BI), remittance services reached US$2.39 billion in the second quarter of 2022 in Indonesia. Cumulatively, PMI’s remittances to their families in the archipelago elevated by 4.32% YoY, attaining US$4.73 billion in the second semester of 2022, compared to the early semester of last year. The prospect of remittances is forecasted to grow, perceiving Indonesian migrant workers’ placement continues to soar until the end of 2022, reaching 59% for the formal sector and 52% for the informal sector.
Viewing the innovations in the administration of remittances, the Director for Asian and African Non-Governmental Placement at the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), Sri Andayani, also observes the remittance prospect vividly for PMI. However, he considered numerous PMI families still did not have bank accounts. Through this collaboration, Sri looks forward to this action can be an alternative for sending money through the DANA platform without having to create a bank account.
