Heaptalk, Jakarta — Sinar Mas Land presents an autonomous electric vehicle (AV), namely Navya Autonom Shuttle at Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), South Tangerang, Banten. The first trial was carried out at QBig BSD City in May—July 2022 where the second trial is at BSD Green Office Park from August 27, 2022, to January 5, 2023.
The AV operation is Sinar Mas Land’s measure to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by presenting various innovations to develop green energy smart cities that are more environmentally friendly and sustainable. The initiative is a continuation of the strategic partnership of Sinar Mas Land and Mitsubishi Corporation, supported by funding from JICA, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Macnica Inc.
The technology is aligned with the green vision of the Green Office Park (GOP) area which has been certified as the first Green Mark District in Indonesia by the Singapore Building Construction Authority (BCA). In addition, all office buildings built in GOP have also been certified as green buildings by the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI).
The effort of bringing the first autonomous electric vehicle to BSD has also received the attention of the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi. The AV operation is considered a step to realize future transportation for the development of sustainable smart cities in the country. At the inauguration of the AV trial, Budi also expressed his hope that this latest technological innovation can be exhibited at the G20 Summit which will be held in Bali in November 2022.
Chief of Digital Tech Ecosystem & Development of Sinar Mas Land Irawan Harahap delivered, “The development of the unmanned electric vehicle ecosystem strengthens the spirit to realize Sinar Mas Land’s commitment to provide low carbon emission vehicles and to encourage sustainable living. We see that the AV innovation is featured with smart technology. Besides, smart transportation provides an alternative to new transportation modes to serve people’s mobility.
Further, Irawan said that the AV features also reflect the lifestyle that the Sinar Mas Land will carry out in the transformation of BSD City from an independent city to become a smart integrated digital city. The AV technology will fit perfectly into the Digital Hub ecosystem which is full of digital technology activities.
The Navya Autonom Shuttle has an electric drive, a 33 kWh battery pack that lasts up to 9 hours, and a passenger capacity of 15 people, with 11 sitting and 4 standing. The electric vehicle is equipped with a variety of sensors, spanning Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and Light Radar (Lidar) sensors combined with a high-resolution camera for big data analysis, which will then be processed by a computer that has high specifications embedded in the vehicle.
The autonomous electric transport can detect, track and classify nearby obstacles in real time to determine the optimal trajectory and speed profile, including automatic acceleration, steering, and braking capabilities.
In the second trial, AV operates every Tuesday-Sunday from 10.00 to 17.00 WIB. The public can try the autonomous electric vehicle for free without any additional costs. Prospective passengers need to register and fill out surveys before and after enjoying the vehicle, through the OneSmile application available on the Apple App Store or Google Playstore. People who bring children can try the autonomous electric vehicle provided that the child’s height is at least 120 cm and is accompanied by parents.
