Heaptalk, Jakarta — PLN, in collaboration with PT Aruna Cahaya Pratama (Aruna PV), China Power Hubei, and Huawei, to finalize the installation of the ground-mounted solar power plant in Indonesia with the capacity of 100 Megawatt peak (MWp), located at the Bukit Indah Industrial Zone in Purwakarta, West Java.

According to the President Director of PLN, electricity is the core of the country’s economy. Currently, PLN provides reliable electricity and fulfills the industry’s green electricity requirement. He also affirmed strengthening the operational use of green electricity for industrial development as part of Indonesia’s government’s energy transition roadmap towards achieving a net zero emission target by 2060.

“We are glad to be able to forge a solid collaboration with private partners, including Aruna PV, China Power Hubei, and Huawei, to make the project successful. This project was completed within seven months, the fastest of its kind that employs one of the most advanced technologies in Indonesia,” Darmawan added.

Once in operation, the 100 MWp KBI Tatajabar Sejahtera Solar Power Plant can generate over 146,000 megawatt-hours of environmentally friendly electricity annually. This performance reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 114,700 tons and reduces coal use by 58,430 tons. The energy produced can meet the electricity needs of around 112,000 households for a whole year, thus significantly contributing to the archipelago’s clean energy development.

In this strategic cooperation, Huawei provides the inverter and SmartLogger technology to generate safe electricity for users. This technology converts direct current (DC) generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC), which can be used by household appliances and fed into the power grid.

This technology is designed to maximize energy output with features such as maximum power point tracking (MPPT), which optimizes the efficiency of solar panels. The green power project involves the installation of 170,000 solar panels and 240 inverters over an area of 85 hectares.

“Our involvement in the Puwakarta 100 MW project is Huawei’s tangible contribution in implementing the concept of a green industrial area in Purwakarta. Huawei’s inverter technology has proven its reliability in converting electricity more efficiently and maximizing the energy generated from solar panels,” said Jin Song, head of digital power at Huawei Indonesia.

Furthermore, Huawei will also provide smart management and monitoring solutions through SmarLogger, allowing users to monitor system performance in real-time through apps or a web platform. This scheme ensures greater transparency and control over solar power plant operations.

“This project uses eco-friendly concepts for its design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. Together with Huawei, our involvement in the 100 MW Purwakarta project from Aruna and PLN marks a milestone in the clean energy development in Indonesia,” Representative of Power China Hubei Engineering Co. Ltd., Liu Gaofeng, concluded.
