Heaptalk, Jakarta — Panen Raya Nusantara (PARARA), a creative event for the community and indigenous entrepreneurship products, has announced the latest festival held on December 2nd – 18th, 2021, by implementing a hybrid scheme. PARARA will invite 105 local communities and indigenous peoples in Indonesia to enliven the festival.
The primary headline of this festival is local food traditions from various regions, various creative products, handicrafts, non-timber products, and interactive dialogue in the several areas (Kalimantan, Sumatra, Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Bali, Papua, Maluku, Java, and surrounding areas).
Chairman of the PARARA Consortium Jusupta Tarigan said that PARARA intends to boost the local communities’ economy and indigenous peoples equitably and sustainably. The local communities’ products supervision and indigenous peoples’ will preserve local wisdom and the environment. By conserving the products of local wisdom-based, PARARA expects to substantiate the nation’s identity. Moreover, Indonesia is one of the prosperous countries of biodiversity in the world and various cultural wealth.
“PARARA plans to promote the products of local communities and indigenous peoples and develop market access that can evaluate and reward these products at a fair price. In terms of quality, the local products which have global market value and potential are woven fabric. The weave is a cultural heritage and an entrepreneurial potential that has a market both domestically and globally. Therefore, our concern is required to cultivate and preserve local Indonesian products as well as local communities and indigenous producers and their local wisdom,” said Jusupta in his statement.
Furthermore, Indonesia is an agricultural and maritime country. Yet, plenty of people still be contingent on imports products regarding their food necessities, by holding the festival. PARARA encourages all parties to contribute more significant space for local healthy foods and conscionable the sustainability for farmers, fishers, local communities, and indigenous peoples; small-scale producers espouse economic policies.
