Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Enviro Visi Nuswantoro (NVRO), a startup that focuses on character building and environmental preservation, announces to raise funds through non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for their waste management program (31/08). The NFTs will be obtained from the competition held by NVRO.
On the competition, each participant will create ten original and distinctive NFTs, and the winning artworks, further, will be sold in the OpenSea marketplace. The creators are entitled to obtain 80% of the sales, while the rest is for NVRO’s program funding. “There will be 100 NFTs that will be auctioned at Opensea later. From these 100 NFTs, we are targeting the total collected funds to be Rp1 billion or a maximum of Rp10 billion,” said Kirdianto Hrisikesa Putra, Chief Executive Officer of NVRO. The amount is equivalent to US$67,152 or a maximum of US$671,522.
Kirdi claimed to raise funds through NFT as a promotional platform for donation activities for environmental social projects will be the first time in Indonesia. Therefore, he named it a socio-NFT.
Enviro Visi Nuswantoro has several programs to be implemented, spanning NVRO goes to school, NVRO goes to the village, online seminar Mino Talks, NVRO point center, and NVRO services B2B. “We have NVRO goes to school program where we focus on building the character of children in schools and educating on waste management. This program will be implemented in all selected schools in Indonesia,” uttered Kirdi.
Further, Kirdi voiced the habit of throwing garbage in its place is more related to character intelligence, not academic intelligence. People whose characters are educated, certainly understand that the poster for not littering is more than just writing. Therefore, he believed that character education that is instilled from an early age in the environment is one of the efforts to form waste-conscious behavior.
“We deliberately chose schools as the main forum for the implementation of these character-building programs, since we believe these children will become ambassadors who can protect their environment aligned with our motto Let’s Build a Better Place to Live, Let’s Start now,” added Kresno Suci Arinugroho, Chief Operation Officer of PT Enviro Visi Nuswantoro.
Kresno Suci Arinugroho, who is familiarly called Nugi, said his team organized NVRO Goes To School at a high school in South Tangerang, namely SMA 12 Tangerang Selatan. During the event, students participated in character-building and waste management seminars. The NVRO team will assist the school for 3 months to implement the concept of reducing, reusing, and recycling (3R).
Established in January 2022, NVRO’s initiation came from the concerns of the founders about the poor management of waste in developing countries such as Indonesia. In 2020, there were 67.8 million tons of waste in Indonesia. Based on national data in 2018 shows that 62% of waste in this country is generated from domestic waste that comes from household activities.
Referring to the Indonesian Environmental Statistics data released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), only 1.2% of households have recycled their waste. Through character-building concerning about waste from an early age, NVRO hopes to contribute to better waste management in Indonesia and other developing countries.
