Heaptalk, Jakarta – Mimika Regency, Papua Province, was awarded the Smart Governance Dimension Category award at the Indonesia Smart City Conference in Jakarta Tuesday (14/12/2021). Johannes Rettob, Deputy Regent of Mimika, and other regional leaders got an award directly from Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate.
The Deputy Regent stated that the Mimika Regency Government had achieved significant milestones, one of which was in the area of population administration and civil registration services. This improvement provided service convenience to the Mimika residents where they are no longer required to queue at the Dukcapil Office to apply for the citizenship documents.
The public can access Dukcapil services online via the government-provided WhatsApp application or through the online administration service operator application, Orlando, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store and AppStore. Additionally, submitting process via Orlando takes no more than 24 hours.
“People are no longer required to visit the office; they can complete their transactions online. Once the card is completed, we can mail it to his residence without paying a single cost,” he explained.
Despite dukcapil services, the Mimika Regency Government strives to improve the quality of public services in order to win awards in other categories such as Smart Environment, Smart Society, Smart Branding, and Smart Living.
“We have won twice in the Smart Governance category. We expect to attempt it in smart society and smart environment later this year,” he said.
Mimika Regency, one of the 100 smart cities, is currently expanding. The Deputy Regent hopes that government services can be improved, particularly in terms of effective and efficient community services. And this indicates that the development of ICT in the regency is worth following.
“Smart City refers to community services that are efficient and effective, as well as quick, simple, and free. In all fields, we must serve the community in this manner,” he said.
