Heaptalk, Jakarta — MG Motor Indonesia and PLN, through their business unit, PLN Icon Plus, have started a spectacular Electric Vehicle (EV) Journey from Jakarta to Mandalika. This trip tested the resilience of electric vehicles in various geographical conditions in Indonesia while demonstrating progress in the supporting infrastructure needed for the transition to clean energy.
“The MG 4 EV and New MG ZS EV, both superior products produced locally, are the stars of this journey, confirming MG’s commitment to the development of the domestic automotive industry and sustainable efforts in Indonesia,” explained Marketing & PR Director of MG Motor Indonesia Arief Syarifudin in a press release some time ago.
Furthermore, Arief said, “This monumental initiative marks a new chapter in the synergy between the automotive and energy sectors to accelerate the adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles in Indonesia. We are very proud that these two EV models, already being produced in Indonesia, showcase MG’s leading innovation and our commitment to sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions.”
The EV Journey, which covers 1,333 km, involves activities designed to assess and showcase the reliability of MG electric vehicles and the efficiency of the PLN Icon Plus charging infrastructure. From Jakarta to Mandalika, this trip passes through big cities such as Cirebon, Semarang, Surabaya, Banyuwangi, and Denpasar. Along the cities, the EV Journey invites public participation and increasing awareness regarding electric vehicle infrastructure, which continues to develop rapidly.
In more detail, the vehicles used, the MG 4 EV and New MG ZS EV, are equipped with advanced technology, such as a fast-charging system that allows charging from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes and high-tech safety features that support safe long-distance travel. With an attractive design and responsive performance, these two models have also received global recognition with a 5-star safety rating from international institutions such as Euro NCAP and ANCAP.
“With this environmentally friendly travel initiative, MG hopes to spur further the implementation of government policies that support the transition to clean energy and reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels. This aligns with national targets to reduce carbon emissions and achieve greater energy security through diversification of energy sources,” concluded Arief.
