Heaptalk, Jakarta — GAIKINDO, Indonesia’s automotive industries association, announced to hold GAIKINDO Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2022. This automotive exhibition will be held on March 5th – 13th, 2022, in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The organizing of the event intends to evoke economic growth in Indonesia through the automotive sector.

Indonesia’s Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang comprehends that the national automotive industry should be revived shortly as this sector is one of the most essential elements for Indonesia’s economy. As an effort to embody this vision, Agus delivered his instruction to GAIKINDO to arrange GJAW. This automotive expo is expected to increase car sales massively and give a space for the latest automotive products to show off their advance.

Likewise, Indonesia’s government also has adopted another strategy to resurrect this sector. The strategy was reflected, one of which through the Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPnBM) reduction policy starting from March 2020. The measure has proven to be successful in saving the automotive industry during the COVID-19 outbreak after showing the best outcomes.

The Chairman of GAIKINDO, Yohannes Nangoi, revealed in a statement, “Types of vehicles that received the Sales Tax on Luxury Goods Borne by the Government (PPnBM DTP) were exhibited at GIIAS in this year and obtained a positive response from visitors. This exhibition is an appropriate initiation to accelerate the revival of the automotive industry,”

Furthermore, the Director-General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industries (ILMATE), Taufiek Bawazier, stated, “GAIKINDO Jakarta Auto Week exhibition is a crucial moment for the automotive industry to maintain economic development. We have to focus on retaining the national economy to avoid the crisis towards 2022’s transition,”

Although the case of the COVID-19 infection has decreased significantly in Indonesia, GAIKINDO always implements strict health protocols at the exhibition. All participants must have complete vaccine doses, wear a medical mask, and keep their distance. GAIKINDO is set to utilize the entire Jakarta Convention (JCC) Area to exhibit plenty of the foremost automotive brands.

The Chief Organizer of the GAIKINDO exhibition, Rizwan Alamsjah, revealed his expectation of the event, “We arrange various programs to stimulate transactions at the exhibition. These programs align with our objective, namely as a moment to increase sales. I assured that the upcoming programs can appeal to the public’s attention.” (SFM)
