Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Ventures and SV Investment announce the first close of their joint fund, East Ventures South Korea Fund, in Partnership with SV Investment. Both entities aim to leverage their proven track records to drive strong performance through this fund.
This initial closing is backed by prominent investors from both Korea and Indonesia. The fund is anchored by capital from the Korea Development Bank (KDB), a state-owned development bank in Korea, and receives strategic support from one of the world’s top neobanks.
“This first close represents a significant step in fostering cross-border collaboration and investment between Southeast Asia and South Korea. We deeply appreciate the support from our early investors and are excited about the opportunities ahead. Together with SV Investment, we are committed to building a dynamic and sustainable Southeast Asia for today and future generations,” said Roderick Purwana, Managing Partner at East Ventures.
The fund, managed collaboratively by these two leading venture capital firms, is now ready for deployment. It is focused on identifying high-potential technology startups in Southeast Asia and South Korea that want to expand across both regions.
East Ventures and SV Investment target revenue-generating startups seeking Series A to B funding, with investment sizes ranging from US$1 million to US$3 million, as lead investors in high-conviction opportunities driven by exceptional founders. The fund continues to engage with investors and is on track to reach its final close by mid-2025.
“The fund will serve as a bridge to strengthen economic ties between Southeast Asia and South Korea. We are dedicated to generating meaningful synergy between both regions through our collaboration with East Ventures. South Korean companies will have increasing opportunities to expand into one of the fastest-growing markets. At the same time, Southeast Asia will benefit from advanced technological innovations from Korea, accelerating economic growth,” stated David Junghun Bang, Managing Partner at SV Investment.
Established in 2009, East Ventures has raised nine funds focused on Southeast Asia. It has invested in over 300 seed—and growth-stage tech startups, generating strong financial returns and positive social and environmental impacts. Various industry rankings have recognized the firm as one of the region’s most active and top-performing VCs.
Meanwhile, SV Investment, with international branches in Singapore, Boston, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, is one of Korea’s most active independent venture capital firms. It has invested in Southeast Asia and is further strengthening its global investment portfolio.
