Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s AI-driven Health Information System (HIS) startup Nexmedis recently secured an undisclosed amount of funding, co-led by East Ventures and Forge Ventures.
With the newly secured investment, Nexmedis plans to expand its AI-powered solutions to hospitals and healthcare facilities nationwide. A key focus will be enhancing its Clinical Decision Support (CDS) system, which assists medical professionals in diagnosis by providing ICD-10-coded recommendations. This solution is calimed to deliver more accurate treatment planning and expedites insurance claim processing by ensuring precise data submission to Indonesia’s Social Security Agency on Health (BPJS) and private insurers
“We are thrilled to have secured this investment, which will be a game-changer as we continue to innovate and bring AI-driven solutions to healthcare. The commitment from East Ventures and Forge Ventures is a testament to their trust in our mission to bridge the healthcare accessibility gap through innovative technology. With their support, we are poised to accelerate our growth and impact to improve patient care and outcomes,” said Yehuda Dani Utomo, Co-Founder and CEO of Nexmedis.
Indonesia’s healthcare sector faces significant challenges, including inefficient manual administrative processes and fragmented data management. Additionally, the country’s vast geography makes it difficult to distribute advanced medical technologies and training to remote areas, affecting the quality of patient care. Nexmedis aims to address these issues by integrating AI into healthcare operations, streamlining workflows, and reducing administrative burdens for medical professionals.
Nexmedis continues to develop an AI-powered transcription tool to convert voice notes and summarize patient-doctor interactions into structured digital records. This innovation aims to reduce paperwork, allowing healthcare providers to allocate more time to patient care. The launch of this tool is expected shortly.
East Ventures partner Melisa Irene said, “We are glad to be part of Nexmedis’ journey in transforming Indonesia’s healthcare landscape by integrating AI to enhance efficiency and improve patient care. Their strong development and partnerships with key institutions demonstrate the need for innovative digital solutions in the sector.”
Since its founding in 2023 by Yehuda Dani Utomo (CEO), Matilda Narulita (COO), and Dr. Almer Deta Tarandha (Chief Medical Officer), Nexmedis has rapidly expanded its presence, now serving over 400 healthcare facilities. The company has also received official recognition from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia as part of its Regulatory Sandbox program.
Additionally, Nexmedis has forged strategic partnerships with key institutions such as the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Gadjah Mada University to advance AI-powered healthcare solutions. With the new funding, Nexmedis aims to accelerate its growth, roll out more innovations, and play a crucial role in transforming Indonesia’s healthcare sector.
“At the basis of great companies are great founders and people, and we’re looking forward to partnering with Yehuda, Matilda, and Almer, who are driving change in a vital sector in Indonesia through their innovative products. Everyone has the right to great healthcare, and a big part of that means empowering health practitioners and outfitting hospitals with the best possible technology.” Managing Partner at Forge Ventures, Tiang Lim Foo, conveyed.
