Heaptalk, Jakarta — Health technology trends have grown rapidly in recent years. According to Suwandi Ahmad, Chief Data Officer at Lokadata.id, one indicator is the increase in fitness equipment sales, which began to be noticeable in 2009. A significant surge occurred after the Covid-19 pandemic when digital health devices and applications became more popular.
Data shows that more than 69% of young people in Indonesia use more than one telehealth application for health purposes. The main reasons are these applications’ flexibility and comprehensive information, making them frequently used as references.
According to data, Halodoc is the most used telehealth application (54%), followed by Alodokter (27%), Klikdokter (5%), LinkSehat (5%), and GrabHealth (4%). Halodoc’s dominant popularity indicates high public trust in digital health consultation services.
In addition, smart devices, such as smartwatches, increased during 2022-2024, especially for monitoring health conditions and reminding users of physical activity. However, this trend decreased as concerns about Covid-19 waned.
Setiaji, Chief Digital Officer at the Ministry of Health, highlighted the importance of early health awareness. He explained that many people only go to the hospital when the disease is already at an advanced stage, requiring intensive treatment.
The Ministry of Health now facilitates health check-ups through a free screening program. This program includes 20 types of examinations for adults, such as early detection of smoking, diabetes, and cancer. Through the PeduliSehat application, the public will receive a notification one month before their birthday to undergo a medical check-up. This examination can be done at collaborating health centers or clinics.
After the examination, health results will be reported in the form of a health report card. If serious problems are found, follow-up will be carried out immediately. This examination is valid for 30 days after the birthday. Through innovations like this, Indonesia is expected to be increasingly ready to face public health challenges by utilizing technology while also increasing the younger generation’s awareness of the importance of maintaining health.
