Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT MRT Jakarta and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) announced an agreement to conduct an initial exploration of the potential for natural gas business cooperation in transit-oriented areas in the DKI Jakarta area.

This collaboration was marked by an MoU signing by the Director of Business Development at PT MRT Jakarta Farchad Mahfud and the Director of Strategy and Business Development at PT PGN Rosa Permata Sari at the Transport Hub Building (02/20).

According to Farchad Mahfud, this collaboration includes a study of the potential for providing natural gas such as piped gas, compressed natural gas, and liquefied natural gas to meet household and commercial needs in the transit-oriented area around the station.

Likewise, this collaboration is related to natural gas facilities, including operations and maintenance, distribution pipes, service, installation, as well as natural gas customer equipment which can be developed as a sustainable business by both parties.

“On behalf of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), I express my appreciation for the joint efforts to create a sustainable city through energy transition in the public transportation sector and development of areas around stations,” said Farchad in a written statement (02/20).

Aligned with Farchad, Rosa Permata Sari said that MRT Jakarta is a strategic business partner for the future. She voiced, “This opportunity is the first step in realizing a strategic partnership with MRT Jakarta. Apart from that, cooperation is a form of joint active participation towards the energy transition and low carbon business.”

Rosa further added that both parties can explore other business potentials such as facility management and expanding the natural gas network for both household and commercial needs. This collaboration is expected to bring benefits to the development of sustainable infrastructure and public services in Jakarta through innovation to accomplish sustainable development.
