Heaptalk, Jakarta — F5, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider company, announced the launch of F5 Distributed Cloud Service, the latest platform that provides security, multi-cloud networking, and edge computing solutions. The goal of this service is to make it easier for customers to use application security and protect them from cyberattacks, especially for businesses that are digital.
Many companies in various sectors encounter application evolution as the digital center to meet their needs. This enhancement also has an impact on increased security threats for its operated applications. This trend has become a challenge for F5 to avoid security attacks because many companies are combining their applications of old technology with the latest infrastructure.
According to the State of Application Strategy Report 20222 issued by the F5 platform, several companies operating old and modern application infrastructures reached 88%. Meanwhile, other companies manage multiple clouds (multi-cloud) by 70%. This percentage potentially increases the security threat occurrence due to enterprises’ inconsistent security controls across different environments.
The President and CEO of F5, François Locoh-Donou, revealed his statement during the event, “F5 dominates digital applications and experiences as connections and a basic platform for business innovation to create significant markets. We aim to espouse several organizations to secure their applications from cyberattacks continuously. The launch of Distributed Cloud Services is an essential milestone in providing an effortless method for customers to tackle the complicated challenges of modern application security,“
Introducing the F5 Distributed Cloud WAAP
The F5 platform also created the Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) service as a security protection solution for web applications and APIs, which integrates various security capabilities of all F5 technologies into a unified SaaS platform.
F5 Distributed Cloud WAAP can also simplify security and automate processes, enabling application teams to focus on delivering features and functionality that will enhance their customers’ experiences and encourage their business in the future.
“We determined to implement F5 Distributed Cloud WAAP as an alternative solution based on SaaS and CDN with adaptable characteristics to simplify a massive transfer to the cloud. This solution can activate additional security services smoothly through a single platform and can be deployed anywhere, “Ian Young, Senior Manager of Global Networks and Unified Communications at Vertafore, said in a statement.
The Distributed Cloud’s new approach to application security and delivery
This latest platform provides application security and SaaS cloud native-based delivery services, operated centrally but can be used anywhere to maximize digital business and provide an optimum experience.
F5 Distributed Cloud is created from the Volterra, F5, and Shape Security Services platforms’ combination, making it unique because of its native deployments across multi-cloud, data center, and edge environments. Also, this service combines application security, multi-cloud networking, and application platform services into one SaaS platform, which shows a global personal network in 22 cities that are connected by a single network.
Customers can access several F5 Distributed Cloud services, including F5 Distributed Cloud Transit, which enables high-performance multi-cloud networking (MCN) between the cloud and the network firewall. F5’s technology platform also has a cloud-native computing capability known as an application delivery network (ADN) to improve the customer experience by distributing applications to the F5 Global Network.
On the other hand, this multi-cloud company has also integrated customer experiences across the portfolio by simplifying product labels. Several services from F5, Shape, and Voltera have been transformed into F5 Distributed Cloud services, including F5 Distributed Bot Defense, DDoS Mitigation, WAF, and API Security.
The Country Manager of F5 Indonesia, Surung Sinamo, delivered his statement regarding this platform to Indonesia’s business, “Business models and their applications have adjusted earlier at present. This trend demands application and infrastructure security be more agile and effective. We rapidly integrate our service portfolio into a distributed cloud services platform to continuously provide innovative new products and services, “
Likewise, Surung also concluded, “We expect our customers to have the needed capabilities and speed to achieve sustainable business transformation. F5 Distributed Cloud Services is a fast and integrated solution for businesses in Indonesia to improve application protection and Application Programming Interface (API) as the most crucial points in the digital sector. We attempt to offer application security for all business sectors and also intend to democratize this service in all countries.” (SYF)
