Heaptalk, Jakarta — Esemka’s local car maker, PT Solo Manufaktur Kreasi, introduced an electric car prototype named Bima EV for the first time at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2023 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta on February 16-26, 2023.

The Esemka Bima EV prototype consists of two variants, namely the cargo van and the passenger van. Both variants are 4,495 mm long, 1,680 mm wide and 1,990 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm. Bima EV Passenger Van can accommodate 11 passengers while Bima EV Cargo Van has two seats for the driver and front passenger.

The two cars are equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with the code TM4018. This electric motor is capable of producing a maximum power of 75 kW and a maximum torque of 165 Nm. This power is channeled through an electric motor with rear-wheel drive via a 1st reduced-gear transmission.

President Director of PT Solo Manufaktur Kreasi Eddy Wirajaya stated that the introduction of electric cars at IIMS is expected to contribute to accelerating the transition process from conventional cars that use internal combustion engines to electric vehicles that are more environmentally friendly.

“The Esemka electric car prototype displayed at IIMS is the result of collaboration with automotive manufacturers abroad,” said Eddy Wirajaya at IIMS 2023 (02/16).

Geared with a terany lithium battery to drive 300 km on a single charge

Esemka’s electric car for passenger vans is provided with a double-blower AC, while the blind cargo van has a single-blower AC. Eddy added, “We are also displaying the new product variant Esemka Bima 1.3 which is equipped with electric power steering and air conditioning.”

Further, Bima EV is geared with a terany lithium electric battery with a capacity of 49.1 kWh with 350.4 V. The battery can be charged with a quick charge (DC) system for 1 hour and a slow charge (AC) for up to 8 hours. The battery can be used to drive up to 300 km on a single charge.

With the presence of its EVs at IIMS 2023, Esemka believes electric cars will be the future for the automotive industry in Indonesia through targets on emission reductions, as well as several government policies to accelerate the use of electric vehicles, both currently existing and in the future.
