Trade Minster Zulhas conveyed that Indonesia’s authority is committed to embodying the independence of local medicinal raw materials and vaccines industry.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Biopharmaceuticals and Medicinal Raw Materials Association (AB3O) visited The Ministry of Trade to discuss the development of Indonesian health resilience with Trade Minister Zulkifli ‘Zulhas’ Hasan.
As cited from the Official release, Zulhas conveyed that Indonesia’s authority is committed to embodying the independence of the medicinal raw materials and vaccines industry, even supporting the product to go worldwide.
“AB3O asked the Ministry’s support to facilitate local medicine and vaccines to penetrate foreign markets. The association also required support concerning the policy of import duty for foreign products in which the medicinal raw material can be produced locally to avoid price dumplings,” stated Minister Zulhas.
In addition, Zulhas also appreciated AB30 to continue its support in developing Indonesia’s biopharmaceutical and medicinal raw materials industry. Recently, the association also has conducted consolidation with the Indian vaccine industry to develop Indonesia’s biopharmaceutical and medicinal raw materials industry.
“The Ministry of Trade fully supports the development of this industry in Indonesia. In this matter, we will coordinate with the related institution to facilitate the agenda,” said Zulhas.
Today, the Authority restricts the import of several medicinal raw materials based on Trade Minister Regulation No 20 Year 2021 Jo and Trade Minister Regulation No 25 Year 2022 concerning the import regulation. In this case, the raw materials refer to dangerous materials that are imported for the pharmaceutical industry, traditional medicine industry, cosmetics, and processed food and food additives industry.
To import this product, the importers should possess Business ID Number (NIB) which also applies as Import Identification Number (API) and Business License issued by the Ministry of Trade. Meanwhile, for importing other raw materials, the importers who possess NIP and API are able to import the product without having business license issued by the Ministry of Trade.
