The Jakarta Kreatif Expo 2023 at Ambassador Mall allows East Kutai MSMEs to conduct market tests to find out consumer preferences, particularly in Jakarta.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regency Government through the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs is exhibiting its MSME products at Jakarta Creative Expo 2023 at Ambassador Mall, South Jakarta on September 14-17, 2023.

Collaborating with Global Entrepreneur Professional (Genpro) East Kalimantan, the Department took advantage of this event to promote flagship products of East Kutai MSMEs at the national level. According to the Secretary General of Genpro East Kalimantan Yusnita Widi Astuti, East Kutai’s participation in the national-level exhibition aims as a bridge to explore the export market. The target is to attract as many partners as possible, both consumers and resellers.

“We are taking part in this event to help our MSMEs to promote their products. That way, the product will not only be known locally in Sangatta but also nationally. Later we hope that they can export their products. For now, we are introducing their products in Indonesia first,” said Yusnita on the second day of the Jakarta Kreatif Expo 2023 (09/15).

In this event, East Kutai exhibited at least ten superior products in the food, beverage, and handicraft categories. “Yesterday, almost 100 packs of various products were sold, including coffee, liquid palm sugar, and snacks. Many visitors were interested in snacks, including savory fish crackers called amplang.

Simultaneously, this event also allows the MSMEs to conduct market tests to find out consumer preferences in Jakarta. Until the second day of the exhibition, Yusnita observed that Jakarta visitors liked assorted flavors. In contrast to previous exhibitions in Bali, the majority of visitors preferred crunchy and savory snacks.

Second exhibition at the national level

The Jakarta Kreatif Expo is the second exhibition at the national level attended by East Kutai MSMEs in 2023, facilitated by the East Kutai Cooperatives and SMEs Department in collaboration with Genpro East Kalimantan. Previously, the Department exhibited its MSME products at the Indokraf Expo in Bali on July 20-23, 2023. The third exhibition to be participated in will be Regional Promotion and Investment Week in Yogyakarta on October 19-22, 2023.

One of the East Kutai MSME entrepreneurs participating in the event is Komala Sari Dewi who produces amplang. Before participating in this event, Sari was equipped with knowledge and skills in managing a business through several training sessions conducted by the East Kutai Cooperative and SME Service and East Kalimantan Genpro.

“We follow the curation first to determine which products can be the flagship. After that, we were invited to take part in this exhibition,” said Sari on the sidelines of the Jakarta Kreatif Expo 2023 (09/15). This is the first exhibition at the national level that she has participated in. Previously, she exhibited her products only at the local level.

Jakarta Kreatif Expo 2023 showcases business sectors developed by local governments, including investment, SOEs, tourism, industry, trade, agriculture, aquaculture, plantation, and cooperatives and SMEs. In addition to East Kutai Regency, the four-day event is also participated by Aceh Province, Tapin Regency, Denpasar City, Serang City, Medan City, Bandung City, Tangerang City, and Makassar City.
